On March 14, 2024, The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA), in collaboration with the Association of Women in the Financial Industry (TAWIFA) and the Women's Foundation (MIF), commemorated International Women's Day in the financial sector at the Kwanza  Hotel at Kizimkazi South Region Zanzibar.

The ceremony included the launch of the Association of Women in the Financial Sector, (TAWIFA) with Hon. President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan serving as the guest of honour.

During her remarks at the TAWIFA launch, Dr. Samia encouraged women to support themselves in work so that they may advance in the country's economy through the financial sector. She went on to say that women should now move forward and participate in the performance or implementation of such movements in order to further societal and national development. Many women attended the celebrations, including ministers, former first ladies, and institutional heads, as well as party and government leaders.
