The Commissioner of Insurance in Tanzania, Dr. Baghayo Saqware, along with the Directors of Departments and Zonal/Unit Managers of TIRA, attended a meeting on October 13, 2023. The meeting took place in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar, and brought together top executives of insurance companies.

The meeting was organized by TAN-RE and focused on various issues concerning these insurance companies, exploring ways to address challenges while adhering to the regulations set by TIRA in collaboration with insurance stakeholders.

During his presentation, the Insurance Commissioner emphasized the responsibility of insurance companies to provide awareness to policyholders when entering into insurance contracts. This education is crucial to ensure policyholders understand their rights during disasters and their obligations beforehand.

Additionally, the Commissioner urged insurance companies to highlight their achievements in the settlement of various claims for policyholders and beneficiaries. This transparency is essential for building trust among the public, policymakers, and the government as a whole in relation to insurance service providers.
