TANZANIAN INSURANCE REGULATORY AUTHORITY (TIRA) VISITED THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE INSURANCE REGULATORY AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF INDIA (IRDAI)
On March 5, 2024, a delegation from the Tanzanian Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) visited the headquarters of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and held a working meeting with the Authority's Management, led by Chairman Mr. Debashish Panda.
During the conference, among other things, IRDAI discussed their expertise in administering agricultural and health insurance, stating that since the inception of agriculture insurance schemes, they had already paid compensation for various crop disasters totaling USD 14 Bilion
Dr. Baghayo Saqware, Commissioner of Tanzanian Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) stated that the visit is especially important given that India has made significant progress in the management and use of health insurance, and Tanzania is on the verge of implementing a Universal Health Insurance law.
CPA Moremi Marwa, Chairperson of the National Insurance Board, (NIB) praised IRDAI for their assistance and stated that the experience obtained during the tour will help TIRA to improve its performance. Leaders from both sides agreed to collaborate and share information about insurance issues.
