TIRA MEETS WITH GENERAL AND DEPUTY GENERAL SECRETARIES OF THE REVOLUTIONARY GOVERNMENT OF ZANZIBAR (RGZ)

On March 22, 2024, The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) hosted a meeting with the Secretaries General and Deputy Secretaries General of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (RGZ) honored with Engineer Zena Ahmed Said, Secretary of the Revolutionary Council and Secretary General of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, as the Guest of Honor.

The meeting, which also included the CEOs of NIC, ZIC, EAST AFRICA REE, PDZ, and the Treasurer Registrar, received the results of TIRA's assessment of the acquisition of Asset Insurance for the Institutions of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.

During his presentation, The Commissioner of Insurance Dr. Baghayo Saqware stated that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar is well in terms of fire and health insurance, with more than 80 percent, and urged government officials to continue to focus on other insurances, which will help to protect the government assets against various disasters.

The Chief Secretary, who is also an Insurance Ambassador, requested that the Secretaries assess all assets in their Ministries, as well as the expenses of insurance payments, in order to make more productive decisions. She also stated that it is beneficial for those executives to gain a through understanding of various forms of insurance.

Mrs. Khadija Said, Deputy Commissioner of Tanzania Insurance, in closing remarks, she infomed the audience and stated that the Authority has committed to providing cooperation to facilitate insurance services in Zanzibar Islands, and that TIRA will soon open another office in Pemba and another in Unguja. The session consists of a series of actions taken by the Authority to promote the country's insurance sector.
