Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) in collaboration with various stakeholders in the insurance, social protection, and actuarial sectors held a fourth meeting to discuss the establishment of a professional board of Insurance, Social Protection, and Actuarial (ISPAB).

The meeting was graced by Permanent Secretary Prime Minister's Office (Work, Employment, Youth, and People with Disabilities), Prof. Jamal Katundu as the guest of honor.

Prof. Katundu appreciated the Authority’s efforts to take lead on the preliminary processes of establishing this crucial professional board.

“We have to act quick to have a board (ISPAB) that will oversee the rights and professionalism of the Insurance, Social Protection, and Actuarial experts since as per data we have the professions bring together above four thousand expert individuals but they have no a board that checks their daily conducts,” said Prof. Katundu.

On the other hand, Commissioner of Insurance, Dr. Baghayo Saqware insisted participants that it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that the board (ISPAB) is established for the benefit of all insurance and social insurance experts as well as the customers they save.

Stakeholders agreed to have a team from the participating institutions to be able to prepare a range of information that would facilitate access to the board of the ISPAB. The meeting was held as a continuation of meetings to discuss the establishment of the Insurance, Social Protection, and Actuarial Board (ISPAB) with the main agenda of presentating a proposal for ISPAB establishment, submission of the Terms of Reference (ToRs) for hiring a consultant, and the presentation on budget and resource mobilization.
