Meeting to receive and hear insurance complaints held in the central zone - Dodoma

The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) on 27.04.2023 organized a meeting to receive and hear insurance complaints held in the central zone - Dodoma at Morena Hotel.

Those who stood are the Management of the Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA).

The meeting was held as a continuation of the meetings to receive and listen to insurance complaints in the country which the Authority has been conducting with the aims of receiving and resolving the various challenges facing insurance consumers and stakeholders, getting feedback and advice from insurance users, insurance providers, and insurance beneficiaries.

For his part, Commissioner of Insurance Dr. Baghayo Saqware told the participants that it is important to discuss and cooperate in developing the insurance market. It is also a prospect of TIRA continuing to address citizens' complaints of insurance users and policy complaints the authority will continue to advise the government. He also issued directives to insurance players to address and handle the complaints of insurance consumers in accordance with the laws, regulations, and various guidelines issued by the Authority. Finally, he insisted that TIRA is ready to continue receiving and addressing the complaints, comments, and advice of insurance stakeholders with the aim of promoting and developing the insurance sector in the country.

In addition, Hon. Josephat Hassunga Member of Parliament of the Republic and Insurance Ambassador insisted participants and citizens use insurance services to protect themselves from various disasters and risks. He also insisted that it is important to accelerate the provision of insurance awareness for citizens, especially in rural areas in order to promote the insurance sector.

 In concluding remarks, a Chairperson of the meeting Eng. Zena Said (General Secretary and the Secretary of the revolutionary government of Zanzibar) insisted that it is important for government institutions to collaborate to deliver quality services to the people and grow the overall GDP. She also directed the Authority (TIRA) to continue to uphold the rights of insurance consumers and providers in accordance with various laws, regulations, and guidelines, as well as to accelerate the provision of insurance awareness to citizens especially in rural areas. Finally, she congratulated TIRA for the various efforts for  being made to promote and develop the insurance market including organizing such meetings.
